I feel everyone’s pain who has ever worked for Tony Ambrose.
He’s rude and doesn’t have a clue how to talk to peolpe. He doesn’t pay his bills or his staff. I’m not sure why I go to work everyday????
He fires his staff daily and speaks to them like there a piece of shit!!!!
We never have half the menu items like Lobsters or Filets, that makes no sense to me why the doors are still open.
Chef owners should stay in the kitchen, buy and serve great food and let someone else run the staff then they would have a better chance in succuss of their restaurants and the turnover in staff won’t be so high!

This guy should come with warning signs…He has to be the worst chef / owner on the planet. He may have shown Boston Vertical Food in the past but he’s now showing Boston some new tricks. Like not paying employees = 2 the worst possible thing done in this industry…..Not paying vendor’s, I hear he is in court with numerous vendors. He rants and raves at staff to stupid
to walk out on him, because he owes them so much backpay. This guy should be studied, for what not to do.
He should have his own TV show, it could rival Hell’S Kitchen…Someone from the State or Federal Gov. needs to close this fool up… This guy could be responsible for a whole new bunch of legislation if someone were to look at his books…..Starting to recover from my experience at the Black&BlueFin….

Ok…My guess is if you were ever allowed to remain in Tony’s restaurant chances are that he was extreamly critical of your performance, chances are better that you did not have all these skills before you arrived there. I have seen him make CHEFS out of cooks and WINE STEWERTS out of waiters. If he was hard on you he saw that there was a lot of wealth in your ability to succeed… He never ask for a pat on the back or to be anybody’s friend, he only cared about how good we became. He knew that cooks and waitstaff would hate him( God knows I was one) and later thank him for kicking their ass……….His goal was to have a great restaurant and see people succeed and have a career. There was no better run restaurant than Ambrosia for 10 years. Career waiters and cooks and chefs don’t dig the old school ways…but they do work! So understand if he was overly critical and on you every min, he liked you and respected you all the time while you hated and despised him. Wheres the poetry in that?

I don’t agree that harassment and nastiness is the best way to teach someone, or bring out the best in them. Some kitchens are like a bad boot camp experience - except that boot camp comes to an end and you go on with your career. Only very small, insecure people function by tearing people down, and making a virtue out of meanness is too bizarre.

This is god the almighty, i know everything, every fact, every detail, everything good and bad. Everyone in the forum has their bad flaws and their good virtues. People are not built with inherent perfection, especially if they have tried to build something their heart leads them to believe can work. At this time in history, human nature has become a complicated pile of emotion, askewed by media, progression of infinite styles of thought and the minds interpretation of what it has learned. In Tony’s case, he started off innocent like the rest of us, tried to build something his heart led him believed could work, then through his inherent character flaws his inner dissapointments have led him to become a corrupt individual. Through this corruption his mind has become immune to sensetivity and morality. Part of this is because he in the process of building what he thought was right he became a provider, in the sence that he had children. Once you become selfless, in the sence that you have an obligation to provide for those you’ve created, you loose all sence caring for yourself and especially those who arent of any relation to you. If he had remained loyal to his heart, and followed his passion, he may have been able to provide himself and his family with a good life, which is how it should work. But the greed of stubborn thought with the clash of stark reality, in a failing business sence, leads to askewed thought and action. Its not because he’s a bad person though, its because he places faith in the wrong people. He has tried to make himself feel better about himself by being unloyal to his wife. In a business sence, he’s hired people like himself, who have no true scene of what it takes to truly understand the workings of society around him. This is the character failure. He doesnt want people to be broke, he doenst want to destroy lives, he’s just corrupted himself in a way that is irreversible. He needs to hire people like me to run his business. Its too bad that im already taken. If anyone wants things done right, they can offer me 100k and ill make them a profitable business while sensitively conserving the sanity that we were born with. Its all about the conservation of the beautiful inherent goodness. Its hard to harness, but some people can…….. let me know!

Okay everyone - Tony, in his head, believes he is the best. He is good at a number of things. However - employee relations, vendor relations, business skills and telling the truth are not among them. In everyones best interest. Leave his restaurant and just leave him alone. Let him realize his successes and failures without trashing him on a website. He has enough troubles. He is still a human being - a misguided one I’m sure. But all the same - let it rest. Who knows…maybe Pam and Jeff can pick up the pieces and make that restaurant a great one. Just kidding. If you think Tony’s nuts just take a look at those two.

I have lived my life not knowing how to hate anyone. Tony Ambrose opened my eyes and changed my life forever. I hate him with a passion. He has affected me in so many bad ways I could not even begin to tell. In reading whats on this page I know everyones pain. Veterans of a Foreign War would feel the same way… Tony you are the” KING OF SHITHEAD HILL” in my book, keep up the good work because you won’t like the smell when you fall down that hill….God will take care of you in the end.

He should be in jail…he steals money to support his habits, pays family that never work there, treats people like shit, is lazy and over depends on people that are stupid enough to take his shit….Tony what goes around comes around…be careful…think of your family, seeing that you couldn’t care less about anybody elses…do you know what it is like to work for free, not being able to pay rent, having to go to your parents for rent, having your girlfriend break up with you cause you’re broke all the time….you are the scum of the earth…your time will come…

I would imagine that in Lynch’s mind Tony is a capable Chef, and a well know restaurantuer.

Most chef’s and restaurant owners I have spoken to think the same. I am appalled to hear this, because I thought over the years all that was written about Tony here would have escaped to the mainstream or even to most of the business. It’s just not true. No one really seems to care anymore about what happened. Unfortunately, amongst the press and general public both Ambrosia, and Black Fin were well regarded.

Most of his staff have moved on, and have put this horror show past them. I guess it’s time for me to do this too.

yes, i worked for hingham, but guess it wasn’t the ghosts that screwed with the lights, or misplaced glasses, silverware, etc. (think maybe he took the salad forks to boston one by one??) will miss all u chefs (except one who only talks about himself NONSTOP), miss u waitstaff, and last 2 mngrs. you guys were great people!
hey, roblover-did you ever work under him? (as a server, that is) all he did was sit at the bar and drink all night, watch desperate housevises, and complain. NEVER helped the staff. well at least he got SOMETHING outa TA before his ass got fired!

Enough already. I think that enough damage has been done, and some people should really be ashamed of themselves of what they wrote and what kind of language was used. I have worked for Tony for more than 3 years, since it was Ambrosia, and I must say all those comments that I have read here on this website make me ill and disgust me terribly. I must admit that it has been a little hard in the past couple of weeks financially, but I think that nobody deserves to be talked to and about the way that Tony is being treated here. Even though I have been fired from the Blackfin because I supposedly wrote all these negative, disgusting things, and I am a bad influence to the waitstaff therefor. Well, even though this was said to me by Tony himself, I still must say that I have had nothing to do with this website and this is the only posting that I will ever send there. I have enjoyed working there and I think that we should all just look a little deeper and start to understand the meaning…SUPPORT. We, that’s all I really wanted to say, and I think the Blackfin is going to succed and do very well. All the BEST to you Tony and I know that you will do great.

chef Anthony Ambrose is a great chef and leader. He was hard on people, but he had a standard that was set high…very high. He knew what he wanted, and always pushed to be the best. If you couldn’t match his drive or intensity, then you weren’t the right fit for that establishment to begin with. For that, he has my respect.

He still owes me $2600.00 for a water heater he needed in an emergency.
No hot water, he was out of business. I kept his restaurant open.
I was his best friend then. When the bill was due he didn’t know me.
Rave about him all you like, He is a lying dead beat and I will post this every time I see that lying piece of shits name anywhere.

The lack of being able to pay or struggling to pay bills with a failing property.It puts the character of the poster front and center. if $16 dollars is that important to you ,knowing this chef is struggling with a property and if you have any common understanding of what a loss like that can and will do to everything under that business ,payroll ,vendors ect.

I had the unpleasant experience of working at a very large celebrity party with Tony last night. I was hired by him as entertainment. He was extremely rude and unproffesional. I have never in my life been talked to like that in my 10 years in business. I did’t really give a shit until the end of the night when he “forgot” his checkbook. Really??? Once I made it clear that I was not in fact leaving without getting paid he said he was going to the ATM. Once again he reappeared 20 minutes later with a check. I don’t care who you are Tony, you are unproffesional and someday someone is going to take care of your mouth…
