Craigslist Anonymouse Job ads.

Anyone else use craigslist to find a job and realize that many posts from employers are shady at best? I mean come on, why not provide contact info, name of the restaurant/bar/deli counter, and clearly state pay? This is driving me nuts and hopefully craigslist will charge these skeezers and require them to provide the most basic of info, especially who we are sending an e mail to!
Does the management of restaurants rely so heavily on craigslist that they think they are doing us a favor? Hell no, they need us!!!!
Thank god for the small number of good posts from reputable restaurants at bostonchefls.com. I am not promoting them but letting hospitality professionals know that I have been treated very well bye the business that post jobs there.
Is the indsustry going down the toilet in respecting new talents and hard workers?

On a similar note- The “talent” pool in this town is seriously low-
new restaurants seem to get a formula of one seasoned sous/cook and a couple of people who can at least hold a knife and not inflict too much harm upon themselves, before going to get drunk and come in late the next day
pay to play at the school level to blame?
Christ, no one can make mayonnaise anymore, even in a robocoup
Pay often dictates commitment in the competetive, bitchy, drunken kitchens of many Boston restaurants. Effective management that expresses deserved respect to its staff will succeed and ineffective judgmental management that does not allow someone to grow and improve only create environments toxic with talent killing energy.
Okay sure, maybe that is too much for you to swallow but cooking is not rocket science, management these days seems to be.
I disagree totally. with the last comment.!
every time I post an ad. for employment and leave the name of the place I get tons of phone calls and people just stopping by most of them I would never hire so it’s nice to be able to weed out some of the non talent by e mail with out them showing up right in the middle of a rush or calling at a bad time even though the ad. said please no call’s just fax or e mail
Here is a tip to the manager of the last comment, dont leave your number and make sure you say NO phone calls, tell your staff to NOT pass along calls regarding the position but, do include the necessary information. It puts you ahead of the pack and sets limits right off. Passive management that is weary of providing info for the inconvenience factor is someone the GOOD applicants stay away from. The idiots call anyway. Take that in mind. Not everyone calls in a rush and not everyone comes bye recklessly. It is okay to say “Did you read the post, did you note my times of availability?” and send them on their way if not.
Your post is silly, childish and not an effective management tool. Get with it and take control. Geez, is everyone a bend over person?
I find that many of the management listings on Craigslist are from “recruiters” that are ust fishing for resumes. It funny how many of these so-called professional recruiters all say that they represent all of the national chains. In fact they do not represent any of them. They simply toss candidates at whomever gives the most lucrative “finder’s fee”. I even had a “recruiter” forward my resume to an independent restaurant company, without even meeting me!!

I agree! I have submitted my resume to restaurants in this ‘incognito’ fashion only to be disappointed or worse, not knowing where my personal info is being sent! Perspective employers should at least identify themselves and request no phone calls……etc.
