Excellent food but Napleon runs the show
Establishment: Oxford street Grill
Location: oxford st
I have worked for some of bostons biggest egomaniacs- or so I thought……………………………..
I lasted about two weeks and couldn’t take anymore of it. I recieved no training and was put right into service. I was told by other servants (employees) that I was replacing a drug crazed pervert who was stealing from the restaurant. Uh oh!
Over the next two weeks I was lectured by both the owner and the chef on various drastic mistakes I had made during service. Lowell pointed out that I had served a napkin for service that had a crease down the middle of it. Of course he quizzed me first asking me if I had noticed what I had done wrong.
I would try to chronologically reconstruct my busy friday night shift and all 3 covers I had served. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ….my thought was interrupted by Lowells whiny voice. :Are you f#&*ing Blind?" I can’t believe you worked at olives?" Chef asked me why I omited something from one of his dishes, even after I had asked his premission which he granted. " Well my guest told me they were allerigic to cabbage and I…..
"You! You! who are you to tell me what my plates are allowed to have them?" he prodded. Ouch, honest it was an allergy like the kind that anaphalictic shock.
The night before I pulled my first ever no-call no show I was delighted to watch a drunken lowell
(a nice Schloss Wallhausen "2 Princes" Riesling- Made by the oldest continuing family since Prinz zu Salm-Dalberg’sches Weingut at Schloss Wallhausen is one of Germany’s oldest traditional wine estates. Prinz zu Salm, the estate owner and current president of the
VDP (German association of Prädikat- and Quality wine estates) can trace his family tree back to 932 and his vineyards to 1200. 2 Princes Riesling achieves the perfect balance between sweetness, acidity, and minerality.
Aromas of delicate flowers meld beautifully with the notes of apricot and nectarine on both the nose and the palate and enhance the cool taste, I put that in just for you Chef Fitzy)
Oh yes drunken millionare restaurant owner hitting on the 18 year old hostess who is dating the prep cook and kissing the sous chef. Later after that grew old he decided to lecture me about the finer points of service. You know, how I need do display more class in front of the guest.
I have worked in the industry for over 10 years and have never been treated like I was a Oxford Street Grill. Lowell is a complete egotisical empty blob of room temp schmaltz. All of his refined culture and taste is post market.
Sorry I walked out but no more will I hear " Hi, I am Lowell Gray THE OWNER ………….I own this place…………this is my restaurant, my concept……………………………..
But any way good luck finding that ever alusive adulthood.
In the mean time please do us all a favor and just hire non industry professionals so that you can keep a low turn over averge and horrify your guests instead of your empoyees.
Oh dear me,
I almost forgot about the other guy Chef Fitzy, you piece of work you.
You almost had me fooled there for a second. Your humble yet delicious food is certaintly world class. I mean it all poking aside. Your culinary skills have produced some of the finest dishes my lips have ever touched. in fact the hell with lips, your food is an experience for all five of the sense. I could just never understand why you are wasting your time in a barren wasteland of culinary garbage while being watched by a little annoying tyrant.
Good luck guys
Loweel I hope you’ve managed to launder enough cash because that alimony train is coming soon

Woo Hoo!! that rant was so un-f*ck-ingbeleivable right on the money!! kudo’s to you fellow Oxford Street Grill dropout. i lasted there 3 weeks. “if you are going to treat me like a child, then i’m going to act like one”…very, very toxic environment for industry professionals.
The restaurant finally closed during the fall/winter………
It is just an empty shell of a restaurant gone sour……..so sad really.
Oxford Street is has opened as the Downtown Bistro and Wine Bar, by the same owner of the Charlestown Navy Yard Bistro. I hear that David Fitzgerald will be back at the helm in the kitchen!!!!
OMG!! Shameless Restaurants is BACK!!
But, please tell me…why are you posting rants about the Oxford Street Grille dated September 2008???
The place has been closed for a couple of years!!

the owner of the Oxford Street Grille is married to a very cute, sweet, petite, barbie doll-type woman. they have 4 beautiful daughters. huh???? how he got her and how he keeps her is mind-boggling to me. he’s SO slimy!
