Fiore in the No. End

Establishment: Ristorante Fiore

Location: Boston

This is not a rant or anything just facts seen by the human eye.  Just looking out for my fellow industry workers.  Do not apply at this location if you see an add as the company has no respect for its employees including management.  Tru facts:

One bartender who was great I mean great and never missed a shift was written up an reprimanded badly because he had no one to watch his daughter and she was sick. His response was, I quit, where is the justice.  First time is ok, remember we work in a people business and alot of us have kids which is hard with these long hrs.

A former manager after being the only one on the management team putting in 80hrs. a week giving it his all was asked to transfer to the sister property for a pay cut.  Serioulsly where is the gratitude.

Another manager was written up for missing the manager meeting due to the fact he also had no one to watch his son AND his dad was having cancer surgery…………..are you serious, you come into work after a day like that having informed them prior that day and gets written up.  You tell me with what moral and enthusiasim anyone will work with.  That just proves the company does not care.

The list goes on.  Just remember that the owner does not care about his employees, mannerless.  They fired a server who had been there for a long while without telling him, they just took him off the schedule and never told him.  Now, imagine yourself your’re about to become a parent, you come into work and are not on the schedule, you’re first reaction is that they’ve must have a made.  Never called him after numerous efforts of him trying to reach the Director of operations.  Just throwing it out there.  Thank you all

In my opinion it is just fact that just about every restaurant in Boston’s North End is just as shaddy as the next. When it comes to the an establishment the owner only see’s one thing…..the bottom line!! NO staff appreciation (well maybe every so often but only when it benefits them). I have worked in two restaurants in the North End both times seen some pretty grimmy things. For example…. pocketing tip money that servers think they are giving to the busser, smoking on the line while in the middle of food service, Tax fraud, no pay for training…well exspecting the servers to tip out a trainie, taking people off the sched. without any notice, lets not forget the mice, Nasty “chefs” who yell at YOU when they F*cked up, owners who eat the food drink the wine take it home for dinner parties and then think the staff is stealing when the numbers dont match up at the end of the month, also I love how most places dont have managment just a head person usually a friend of the owner who kisses thier ass and doesn’t know the first thing of how to run the operation. It is so sad that such a well respected part of boston is so disrespectful to Boston and the people of Boston. I’m the food really isn’t that great anymore. There are more Microwaves in those restaurnts then there are cooks!!! oh and one more thing the restaurants are so small the food storage is horrible I dont think anyone follows food safety guide lines.

I interviewed for a job at this place and with my polished appearance, good credentials, smart and outgoing personality which is grounded yet, these guys decided to take me to task in the interview. They must have thought I was too nice for the North End and threw me some zingers to see what I would do. Well, I understand zingers and attitude all too well. The door could not open fast enough for me to rush out, dust off the air they shared with me and run. This place wants losers because, well, they are.

This place goes through managers like underwear. There are constant ad postings on craigslist for new managers. They can’t hold on to anyone, whether it be low pay, poor attitude or whatever.
