I worked at Morton’s in Orlando for 2 years. The management as part of their pay took 20% of our tips everynight. If they knew you had a really good night they would demand more. If they thought you were shorting them they would go through your tickets and pull you off the schedule or give you a 1 table section. I complained to the labor board in Fl. They were useless. This practice is company wide across the US, I know because I met many transfers and talked to other out of state Morton’s employees. After I was fired (for complaining when the mod Seth Miller clocked me out 3 hours before my shift was up), the gm Dan O’grady came to my new job at Shula’s in Walt Disney World with his favorite kissups. He pointed me out to my new co-workers saying that he fired me. We also had to tip out salad and dessert chefs and sometimes even dishcrews. I used to work for the boston morton’s restaurant in the
back bay. They had the same practices of tipping everyone
and there brother…you know, the waiters make sooo much, we
should just underwrite everyone elses wages…anyway, we all
got pretty fed up, hired an attorney and about 22 of us
former and some current (at the time, the really career
employees stayed on, and had to ‘resign’ to take the
settlement. Yes i said settlement. after months of
meetings, questions we did get a nice settlement from the
company..oh boo, i am not allowed to work for them again..
well, i got other jobs since no problem..and my 5K after
taxes returned to me was great!! take the time, organize
and go after em..they are used to it..its been going from
state to state….you have money out there just meet up
organize, find a good contingency lawyer…
WOW! Talk about aggression! Look I am guessing that the person who posted that they have no problems with the company (since several others have posted that they have, to include a settlement) they are probably one of the owners or upper management! Get over yourselves! I am sure you screwed people out of money I dont even work for you and have heard things from others! Leave the girl alone and just pay her the money you owe her










you know melanie, i was a server with you at mortons (still there) and for you to say that is kinda fucked up. you know you’re lying. if they did something genuinely fucked up then bitch about it. they got rid of you because you are a HORRIBLE server. how crazy are you? still obsessing about this for how many years now? and just to point something out… i’ve always found the labor board to be quite helpful if you actually have a case.
