Thew Good , The bad , And ……..
Establishment: Boston Public Meat
Location: Boston
Few things about this place, for every good there are two bad:
positive: excellent food
negative: egomaniac chef maffeo that makes even his wife refer to him as chef
negative: Condescending sous ….ahem… chef de cuisine who can’t speak with out spitting fear into the staff.
positive: Chef’s said wife. a true presence on the floor.
negative: Said wife wanting to be a real mom and actually raise her kids, and can’t be there as much as she would like. ( I see this as a positive for society, a negative for being employed at BPM)
negative: her stand in/co-owner cracked out Italian Job, Nino, you’ll find him chain smoking on his black berry, wearing pink shirts and leaning against his shiny new vespa 7 out of 8 hours of the work day.
positive: killer wine list.
negative: most times suggested wines are 86′d and/or are not properly entered into computer, taking almost 25 minutes to find a $150 bottle before presenting it to the table.
negative: Bar staff are idiots, lazy, and One actually asked :: "What do you want in this dirty martini? What makes it dirty, should I just not wash the shaker?"
positive: $60 check averages
negative: forced pool house with incompitant staff that usually ring a meer 600 in sales on a saturday.
negative: chasing said marlboro light smoking Italian Job around for days to recieve small wages.

I bartended there when it first opened- While it can be very disorganized, all in all they are good people to work for. Pino CAN get a little crazy with the screaming, but in the 3 mths or so I worked there he never yelled at me, because I did what i was supposed too- If you know what you are doing ( and you should since this is a fine dinimg restaurant on Newbury Street) you will be fine there. The money is good.
Alexai is a great bartender, and a good manager however he has so much pressure put on him, that things with the wine list etc sometimes fall to the wayside, all in all a fun place to work and make money.
PS Nino is an awesome guy
