Yes, I think this is a scam too. I just did the same thing. They advertise on craigslist as well.

I too responded to a ad on craigslist,can’t get on that site I’m going to notify craigslist,cuz people should know theirs no job out there

Same thing happen to me twice, they place ads on craigslist for medical assistant position.
somehow i dont trust anyone that advertises on the village voice.
