I am saddened by the fact that someone (guest) would write such a horrible response to a service persons experience. How dare you! Apparently you:
A Do not believe in a higher power.
B Fail to realize that Karma meaning what goes around comes back around AGAIN!
C. Know for a fact your evil values will sentence you to hell because you have accepted the fact that you will not be returning.
Yes, I am a waitress who waits for the general public to realize that the whole dining out experience is ruined by people like you. Yes statements like you have made lead me to believe you a still a bully that has not stolen enough lunches in his life, kicked enough trash cans on trash day, had enough lap dances at the seedy strip club. If not for the establishments that employ us wait persons I think maybe noone that wasn’t paid in advance would be nice to you. So keep your money all of it and realize that class is something you can not buy. Even with your millions. Have a nice life.

Let me tell you something, I have tons of class, am highly respected…your JOB IS TO SERVE PEOPLE…what I hate is chatty waiters trying to “sell me stuff.” All I need is my food on the table EXACTLY as I ordered it. When I need you you had best be there. If there is a problem I expect a prompt response.

Think about it if you are out to dine, spending 3,000 bucks for dinner, drinks, and I am tipping 20% that you’d best shut up, bust yer ass, and move at the speed of light.

My last experience out I had a chatty fag, who kept trying to tell me about my wine, kept trying to sell me other items thant what I ordered, kept meddling in my conversation.

I told him simply I was out to chat with a client, no him, and would he kindly bring me EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED FOR.

He took 20 minutes to bring a bottle of wine from the wine storage unit in the joint…he gets back, starts his chatty chatty ways….and I stopped him in mid-sentence….told him to send his manager over, and that I needed another waiter, because this guy just wanted to talk and talk and talk and talk.

The manager comes over, and I told him, get me an efficient waiter, who is not so femmy and faggy, shuts up does his job, and is efficient.,,,if I ever come across such a waiter, he may be treated like a servant….but he will be well compensated for dealing with it.
I got another waiter…he kept his mouth SHUT! spoke after I spoke to him, and was overall, very good at his job.

The chatty guy was sitting at the bar, and I went up to him and told him if he’d kept his mouth shut he wouuld have earned a 100% tip…my dinner bill was 500 bucks…so I tipped 500 because I got what I wanted.

am I an as#%*e for that? MUST I PAY HOMOSEXUALS if they do not have the common sense of a proper servant?

No I MAKE AS SCENE UNTIL I GET WHAT I WANT.

I am opening a private club/restaurant by the getty museum

I will train all my waiters

they will be serving the top echelon of greater L.A.

my waiters will know everything, they will have couth, strong grammar skills, and the unique ability to know when to shut there mouths.

Yet they will be treated like professionals…all employees will have insurance after 3 months-fully paid by the company…two weeks paid vacation to start (paid at the set wage not including tips).

there will be no such thing as a “tryout” you show up, we try you out, you get paid…whether or not we decide to hire you, you will at least be compensated for your time, and a meal, or you may just join us out for dinner, and have a bite on us.

My goal is to make my employees very happy, well paid, and to move with a purpose at all times whilst at work….I will never ask anyone to do something that I would not do myself…..

the only real rules I have are show up 15 minutes early for your shift, and NEVER BE LATE AND NOT CALL TO TELL of your impending tardiness AHEAD OF TIME.

If you call, leave a message, and continue to work on getting there..then it’s cool, but do not show up without having called as I will yell…not abuse..just yell.

It’s simple I want professionals, who are reliable, honest, and fun….yet know how to deal with the rude guest…the cancerous co-worker, my management team will be veterans of this industry ( I own 17 restaurants around the country and have 8 sommeliers) if you are looking for a dream job waiters, it will be ready to open in 4 months.

Just have 5 years in the biz…a true passion for wine, and food.

I am seeking professionals, not people doing a waiting job in the hope for another oppurtunity….if you are here, I want this to be your career.

my waiters at my Chicago operation typically pull in 1,500-2,000 per week, with a hourly average amongst 12 waiters of 35 hours a week.

I want loyalty though, I do make them sign a waiver that they will not leave and go work for a competitor..if they violate that agreement, they are legally liable for this action.

anyone working as a waiter or cook in my house has to sign this.

my cooks are well educated, and paid. I have a kid in chicago who graduated from New England Culinary Institute, and at entry level due to his fantastic skills started off at 42,000 salary.

There are good guys in the biz….I’m tough, I’m demanding, and I will push you guys to be as efficient as possible….but I will never step to the abusive patterns I saw in on of my gm’s in chicago. First night I am there he berated an employee in a very rude rude crude manner…..he was fired on the spot due to my overhearing what was said.

Just to respond to pointers comments ,I was a waitress and a bartender for 15 years. I don’t think you have a clue to what happens to your food and drink the MINUTE you start berating and insulting restaurant employees. I know for a fact that your food has been spit in and your bread has been licked. It has been thrown on the floor, rubbed with dirty towels, had sweat dripped into it and even been caress by the chef’s testicles. I have seen it and I have done it….time and time again. So, the next time you are dining out and you think it’s about time to start your usual blatant disregard for other people….remember….don’t ever piss off you waitress or waiter before you get your food or drinks. That includes being an owner or manager.

1. If the MUST show up 15 minutes ‘before’ their shift, then that is their start time and you MUST pay them for it.

2. This agreement that they will not go work for a competitor is strictly illegal. You can have them agree not to tell your ‘trade secrets’ (such NDA is required in the software industry), but you cannot tell them that they cannot work for someone else.

Also, if you are homophobic and will not hire gays because they are gay, get a good lawyer because the state will be closing you down and taking all your money for discriminatory hiring practices.

I had a bad waiter, I man bad, and I tried to be cool, but after taking my order never saw the guy again, could not get his attention, when he did show up at the table he would not make eye contact, did not check back on the steps necessary
without asking us if we wanted another wine, or anything.

But the food was totally over the top delicious.

I mean whoah dude epiphany.

Our waiter was a detriment, we asked for dessert, and he seemed perplexed….I dunno, mayby a bad day-who-knows.

I wanted to stiff this guy, but it would have looked bad, even though I felt he deserved 0.

I tipped him 10% of 450.00 and gave the other 10 to the kitchenl, because the meal I had made me all gooey and happy on the inside.

I don’t think he liked my basic splitting of the tip ratio between foh and boh. But frankly he is lucky he got anything!

Is this the wrong approach?

I did not want to get the guy in trouble, yet I hope he got the message that we expected a bit more than what we received.

Just a point to the poster and people commenting…

1) Learn how to SPELL

2) The W Hotel does own the restaurant, but Randy Gerber’s company owns the bar and the GM there in Westwood, I agree is one that sexually harasses the female employees, but it is up to them to bring forth the claim.

3) What employees DO NOT understand in California is that the employment laws truly favor the employees but nobody does the research to know when they have been wronged by management. They really should because there is a lot of money out there waiting to be had by the smart employees who leave their employer or that are victim to harassment.

I hope Pointer does not speak and write as poorly as he does when corresponding with his clients. Tons of class means being a bit more gracious and forgiving towards other people. Perhaps the “fag” you were referring to was being told by his manager to be friendly and to up-sell. Servers are often encouraged to do so even though we may hate doing it. Your kind of vitriol and sour disposition is clearly not characteristic of a happy person. If you must take out you aggression on something, take some boxing lessons.
