Awful!!!
Establishment: GR/Eats
Location: West Los Angeles
I worked for this restaurant fairly recently and the boss was extremely verbally abusive. if you had made any mistakes, she often berated you in front of the other employees and even in front of the restaurant patrons who happened to be within earshot. She was most abusive of the head chef and she sometimes smoked inside the kitchen!!! I was severely ill one day and I had to call her and ask her to wait tables in my place for the day. She yelled at me even though I came in to help with some of the restaurant preparation! Not a good idea if you’re sick and not to mention unsanitary. She got on my case and I told her that it’s not a good idea to wait tables when you’ve got a fever and are sneezing. She was still very angry. They did not provide parking and so I often ended up being a few minutes late because I had to park in the neighborhood down the street. That means I had to walk further even though I left early from home. I had done this a few times in the many months I worked for her. I finally got fed up with her abuse and antics and decided to leave. I put in a week’s notice to the owner who is also her son. A couple of days before my resignation, she fired me because I was three THREE minutes late because I had to park further than usual.
Don’t work for this woman!!! The chef sometimes became verbally abusive because she yelled at him and blamed him for everything. He was also temperamental and when it got busy and customers became a tad bit demanding, he would yell at us for politely asking him to fulfill requests. You never know what kind of mood he is in and when it’s rotten, everyone had better watch out. RIDICULOUS. Such a diva. Everyone knows not to bring their personal problems to work. Not to mention that the manager was often not there and when a problem arose, she would be irritated when you called her house for assistance. she did not train the chef in any of the cashiering duties and when we had a problem with the credit card machine and asked if he knew anything, he just threw his hands up in the air and yelled that he shouldn’t be expected to know everything.
She is impartial to Japanese employees, by the way. She treats everyone else like dirt. If you ever want to work for this place, expect some of this. hopefully, they have remedied some of this since I left.
