Alcoholic Chef rude to employees/staff!

Establishment: FULTON RESTAURANT UPPER EAST SIDE

Location: East 75th Street(bet:2 & 3rd Avenues)

Be aware Dear Hospitality professionals..,

Fulton restaurant is a cozy intimate spot to work for or at least it seems from the outside…, inside there awaits a cronic problem that plagues our beloved industry: Executive Chefs who abuse alcohol beyond the professional limits…Chef in question is Mr  Jeremy Culver former Chef at already defunct Josephs restaurant and now drinking his way to Fulton’s content.

FYI: Fulton is owned by the Citarella group ( as in the especialty markets) trying to make it in the Fine Dining arena. let’s get to the point here…to all job seeking applicants servers, bussers, managers etc.. DO NOT APPLY TO FULTON unless you want to be verbally abused, insulted,degraded,screamed at for no reason ,or even sexually harrassed by Chef Jeremy during service and afterwards. and the you get the  "professional honor" of working with a floor male manager who is not conservative at all with the mascara & eye liner and his make-up is more important than looking out for the guests that are dining there.

I guess $50,000 yr. salary will buy you a lot of make up or mascara….but I doubt it will buy solid Fine Dining Service experience!

I understand for a fact that in the past 2 months or so there has been a revolving door( mostly outgoing),
The GM/Director of Service resigned due to this insulting Chef Jeremy ( reliable witness accounts tell us that Chef Jeremy was drinking when the verbal fight broke out),two Maitre’D have resigned or given their notices.., servers have not shown up to work because they are unhappy with the treatment from this Chef or simply because they were not making “ends meet”,staff members caught with possesion of illegal substances…etc.
great place to work for ..don’t you think..?

ALSO THEY NOW ONLY HIRED STRAIGHT OR GOOD LOOKING WHITE PEOPLE, LATINOS AND PLUS ISNT WELCOME, WHILE CITARELLA IS BASED ON A MOSTLY LATINOS EMPLOYEES, BUT MR CULVER A THE LONG EYE LASHES FLOOR MANEGER ARE RACIST, FOR A FACT.

i interviewed there like six weeks before the restaurant opened and i liked what i saw. the gentleman who interviewed me seemed all right (although i forget his name).

they called me back for a second interview a few weeks later that did not go as smoothly. i could tell this would be a low paying disaster waiting to happen.

i’ve been waiting to see when this place would end up here.

my inside sources tell me that they were NOT ALLOWING servers and hostesses to speak spanish among each other ( this came directly from the President aka daughter of the owner: Helen Gurrera) and directed the mascara/eyeliner/make up wearing Floor Manager named Paul Murphy to enforce this rule.

I trained here for three days recently. While i saw no evidence of abuse,racism, or make up for that matter i did see a staff who are walking on eggshells so to speak. here is the problem. when you have your staff so worried about what they might do wrong it makes it hard for them to concentrate on what they would otherwise be doing right.PAUL AND HELEN NEED TO REMEMBER THAT THIS BUISSNESS IS ABOUT PEOPLE. people who if given a chance will work hard to help the team be a success. Find people who care and have a real work ethic, nurture that and you will get better results. p.s. IF PAUL OR HELEN HAD MADE ANY EFFORT AT ALL TO HELP ME I WOULD HAVE WORKED OUT FINE.

do not aplly at fulton u will not survive the rudeness and threat to get fired, meanwhile our main chef is the most rude horrible person that CITARELLA would have as a member of their organization, besides the 90% the kitchen stuff are illegal working under somebody else,s social security number.
should we report to the as they say MIGRA

I feel sorry for the people who work at this fine restaurants
that they abuse their workers.I wish we will know the names of all those restaurants that abuse their workers .We could do a public boycot of them.The employees are nice people if not will be for them,the those restaurants will be closed.
How about talking to thenewspaper or the TV? People needs to know more about this Managers,Cheffs that abuse their employees.They are not God.

there’s a God after all…,Dear hospitality professionals it is my pleasure to give you the good news: The General Manager Paul Murphy (a.k.a. the make up wearing)friend of the owners daughter.Was witnessed by another employee drinking away his long nights on the floor in the company of the Bar Manager the ever so “classy and fouled mouth” Elisa and not just any cheap bottle of wine….but a $400 btl.way to go…..
The Owners got ear of this incident and fired Paul Murphy ..the racist..,make-up sporting Manager .From reliable sources I heard that he can’t get another job as Management he’s now waiting tables.
So .., there is justice after all…what goes around comes around!!
