noticed these boys have been posting want ads again.
As always if you need the job go for it untill something better comes along but be warned…these people are going to take as much advantage of you as they possibly can and they are going to smile and act like you owe them something while doing it.
Gross tip misappropriation. all the managers pocket whatever they can get their hands on, they will squeeze you out of house gratuities added to parties of six or more and they will cut you before your shift is over, take you out of the shift pool and still expect you to finish the shift even though you are only gettiong a half or 3/4 cut (the “captain/managers do this to increase the amount of each point thus giving them more and you less).
I worked for these people for two years.
You will be witness to so many acts of sexual harrassment, racism and homophobia, most of the managers are raging coke heads and the staff is instructed to go to yelp and citysearch to post false rave reviews.
Just a heads up to not waste your time on this toxic establishment.
All in all not much cause to smile.

Hello,
I’ve been working for 1 year & 8 months in Kellari Parea Greek Bistro .
Basically since day 1 that we opened,
We have never had any kind of the allegations that you wrote,
the managers never took tips and all the other statements you wrote.
Second the listing for job that you referring on Craigslist is not even ours.
Finally maybe you are referring to another restaurant or PAREA that was there before us?
Please respond to us.
The second worst thing ( first is lying ) is misleading people with your statements.

i appreciate the post…but i’m not sure what your point is. i’m half expecting one of the managers to come here and dispute what i’ve written. in fact i’d love it. i could spend the next four or five hours just typing out some of the nasty things i’ve seen working for this restaurant group and some are so specific that they will know who i am.
for example:
one friday night during dinner i was approached by the gm. there was a private party of 40 people booked for brunch the next morning and they wanted me to work it. i was asked to come in early to set up and even got cut early to get a little extra rest. brunch waiters were expected to be in by 1030 but because of the party we were all asked to be in extra early…i was asked to come in at 9 am…
…which i did. only guy in the whole restaurant i begin setting up tables…fifteen minutes later one of the managers shows up and is already angry…everybody else is late and we have a lot of work to do. the phone rings, he goes over to answer it and its one of the busboys calling out sick…his grandmother has died and he needs to be with his family.
for a good soild fifteen minutes this managers yelled nto the phone at the top of his lungs what a worthless piece of shit sand nigger he was, he was the boss and the manager and if he didnt show up for work he wouldn’;t have a job (and the phrase “worthless piece of shit sand nigger” was pretty much the mildest thing that came out of this guys mouth). i could even hear the busboy begging this manager to understand.
manager finally slams the phone down, comes over to me and continues his bitch fest on what worthless pieces of shit we all are.
he leaves fuming…ten minutes later he shows back up with a folder and oopsies…somebody made a mistake, the private party was not scheduled for that saturday but rather sunday.
i did not have to show up for work a few hours ealry and the busboy didnt have to show up at all…and honestly…this kid wasnt all that good on the floor. if he had been fired for any number of reasons i would have sided with management. he was lazy, always bringing drama, always late…having him assigned as your busboy would illicit groans from the rest of the waiters but when he showed up in the condition he showed up. he was obviously wrecked and crying…nobody deserves to be treated to that after they lose a family member.
that is just one short story out of about 200 i have working for these people.
and to the poster above…these guys always referred to me as the “pousti”…know what that means in greek?
the truth hurts.
you people should be ashamed of yourselves at letting your management behave this way.
i gotta tell you guys…when that above event happened it sickened me. i was stunned for days and now a few years later i am still ashamed of myself for not doing what i should have and helping that busboy get the legal help he needed.
he had a very solid case…he still might.
the only thing that stood in my way was at that time i actually liked some of you guys.
it was one of the most heinous things i have ever witnessed and it is a sin i did not do the right thing.
Fourstars, thank you for speaking up. Everything you said is FACT. I’ll bet that we worked together at some point. I, too, have stories upon stories of the work conditions of this place. Remember the mice under the bar? It got to the point where I thought they were”regulars”. How about having to hunt down the money you worked overtime to earn, only to see the sketchy math when you finally see a paycheck (usually 2 weeks later, if you’re lucky)….I’m not even going to get into the “Greek Night” stories.
Sorry, Stathis and Stavros…..the truth hurts. Maybe it’s time to clean up your act and treat the people who make your living for you with some semblance of respect.
If, according to you, STATHIS, lying is the first worst thing, then maybe it’s time you stop: This is a direct copy of the Craig’s List ad. Who’s lying now?

I have to chime in and agree with America and Fourstars.
I worked about 5 or 6 private parties at the main retaurant on 44th street and never got paid for them. Inquiring about where my money was got me yelled at. I was also never paid for working a 15 hour double shift on greek Easter and several “promotional parties”…I was told the money was applied towards “advertising fees”.
Where on Earth is it acceptable to make your staff pay for “advertising fees”?

Friggin Greek scum***s. They are the worst of the worst. Asides from being inherently racist, they keep their kitchens like filthy pigpens, and then the all have the balls to “pay off” the health inspectors while crying poverty, or the “fired chef” was responisble. Keep drinking your Ouzo you fucking scum***s! I have never been to your “establishment”, yet I can easily see that the poster is 100% on the mark.
I was a manager at 2 of their locations. By far, the WORST group of people to work for. I agree—they take total ownership of you and do not pay you for it! I felt so sorry for my staff…there was nothing I could do. Stavros and Poppi…KISS MY ASS
The loan suppose to be useful for guys, which are willing to ground their business. By the way, it is not really hard to get a sba loan.
I worked for them in DC. Like so many other of the kitchen staff, they never paid me! Not paying people for their labor is slavery! This is the approach I am taking when calling government agencies. With the majority of their customers being employed on Capitol Hill my calls are going to my Congressman with can you help me, the owners of Kellari’s think I am a slave. Then calls to ICE because the majority of the kitchen staff is undocumented workers who are not getting paid.
Man, that sounds like a shady and horrible place. I’m sorry you had to work with those type bad people. Good luck finding a better job. Have they no shame? lol.
