I was at Bar Centrale on Friday night and it did not end well. My boyfriend and I have been going there for months. I actually discovered it before him and then got him turned on to it. Up until Friday, it was our favorite spot. We have entertained mutual clients there. I arrived without a reservation and the bitchy hostess told us we could have a table until 9:30. We were fine with that. Cut to 9:30, we vacated the table as promised. We were moving ourselves to the bar when she literally said, "oh no you can’t stay." and we asked why and she said she was gearing up for the theater rush. So she would rather have them buy drinks then us? Unbelieveble. and she wasn’t even nice about. We had just spent about $400. We have given them a lot of money. My boyfriend and I are both heads of production. My boyfriend produces commercials and is very well connected. If we don’t get an apology or some form of restitution, we will go out of our way to discourage people from visiting their establishment. If they don’t think that will impact their business, they are seriously mistaken. We ended up at Don’t Tell Mamma and told our server what happened. She replied, "yes they’re a bit hoity toity over there." I also belong to a theater group that will stop going there when I tell them the appalling way we were treated. I hope they deal with this. It’s bad business. I would hate to see my former favorite spot suffer due to one person’s rude behavior. I want to email the owner but she only gives out her personal email. Can anyone help?

Bar Centrale is owned by Joe Allen. You can find Joe sitting at the front of the restaurant (bar side) on a busy evening.
Bar Centrale is NOT that successful. It does not have an air of exclusivity to it nor does it allude to being exclusive. It is a tiny venue that cannot hold more than a couple dozen people. They do not have a stiff door policy because they need the business.. I know. I worked there. I used to take care of a lot of celebrity clientele but that has changed as of a few months ago.
As a server or bartender you can make a lot of money here.. and I have to say it is really nice being able to say “no” to special requests.
Aren’t we the wrathful one…..do you always whine like a little bitch when you don’t get your way? If the hostess was a real bitch, she wouldn’t have sat you and your sense of entitlement ass in the 1st place.
If you are so offended, don’t go back.
Trying to instigate your infantile ,vindictive little snitty campaign here, on a service workers website is lame.
If you and your current bf are all that you claim to be, why do you choose to waste your presumably valuable time(and emotions) on a a restaurant whom you feel wronged you? There are thousands of reastaurants to choose from so,TAKE IT LIKE A MAN,MOVE ON,GROW A PAIR AND GROW UP.
guests who overstay their welcomes are one of the worst things a waiter has to put up with…the hosts and managers pressure you into turning the table, doesn’t matter how much you’re spending on dinner and drinks at some point after about an hour and a half you’re just screwing your waiter who’d be making more money off of other customers and after a certain point its just time to pack up and get the fuck out.
especially when the kitchen closes at 11 and its 12:30 and you and your fat boyfriends are THE ONLY ONES LEFT EXCEPT FOR PEOPLE WAITING FOR YOU TO LEAVE SO THEY CAN GO HOME.
I have this fantasy of running into some of my squatters ten minutes before they’re supposed to go home from their jobs just so i can start asking stupid questions and wasting their time.
Sounds like the hostess did not handle it the best possible way. However, there is something that doesn’t necessarily ring 100% true about the story. That being said your threats that it will effect their business are empty. I don’t work for them or any of their restaurants but let’s face it… JoAllens and Orso included have never been known for going out their way for their customers and they don’t need your patronage at Centrale. You like it because there is an exclusivity to it. However when you were not treated as one of the exclusive club you go crying. Grow a pair. This board is for restaurant workers and possible employers. And one thing I can say for any restaurant worker out there is that if you get the chance to work at Orso, JoAllen, or Centrale you will work very hard but you will make very good cash.
