Go back to Italy!

Establishment: salumeriarosa

Location: uws

I went to an interview today. Yes, on Memorial Day I interviewed for a managerial position at this place.  Did the GM not read my resume before he called me?  During the interview he kept saying how I don’t have that much experience with Italian food. He kept emphasizing how my experience has been in two and three star establishments whereas this place isn’t. Again, did he read my resume? My experience is clearly stated.  My cover letter stated the salary range I want.  Why did he waste my time? I merely answered an ad on CL which stated: mature manager wanted with experience in upper class establishments  Okay, enough with the venting. The warning for others is this: The hours the place is opened isn’t on the website.  When asked what time the place closes he said it depends on who’s there.  When asked about insurance he said we’d talk about it after I’d been there about six months. When asked about the schedule he said six days and one of those would be a double. As far as staff, he insists on two waiters, one host, and one bartender at all times and a floor manager on duty in this 35 seat restaurant. OMG, when I was a waiter I’d wait on more than that alone at lunch. After the interview he thanked me for coming in on Memorial Day and then had the audacity to say immediately after thanking me that it’s a restaurant…we have no holidays. The place opened in November and this is the third managerial position to become open of which I’m aware. Unless you’re some college kid, don’t waste you time.  Have a great holiday!  Yes, even you the food service worker.-lol

i interviewed with them for the same position back in november or december, i cant quite recall. They said the same things regarding me. My thoughts were the same, did you not read my resume. And yes the hours have not changed at all and for a jersey commuter i was happy they didnt call me back.

Wow…, how rude these Owners/GM’s can be during an interview even inconsiderate enough with our time …it’s beyond my comprehension.
the same thing happened to me 4 years ago right after moving back from Miami with the rudest manager at “Rosa Mexicana”rest.

thank you for your posting and stay strong…
Good Luck to you..!

Although many restaurants are open seven days a week, most of the administrative work such as hiring is usually done on a Monday through Friday basis. It has been my experience that when anyone has contacted me about an interview on a week-end or a holiday, they have turned out to be complete idiots. Your experience here only confirms my knowledge. In the future, it should raise a red flag if this happens to you again. You will know automatically that they are undesirable and you should not waste any further time with them. I have never found an exception to this rule.

I trained here and it was extremely unprofessional and crazy! The manager wasted my time in dis-organized chaos before I got there and then I went on to meet more and more horrible humans that were managers on my training day. The young man with the bandanna heading the meat counter was very rude and thought he was something special (????)Ego and way of speaking to people that was so yuck!! I just wanted to be like “dude, you are not that cool or cute..no need to be so nasty. I didn’t get to talk to the owner but maybe that is enough. He was walking around looking like a Napolean Buddha on the phone and never even introduced himself. It was just an awful place and so sad because I was looking forward to working with the cuisine. Too bad.
