HR Director ,the most unprofessional person ever known in this industry!!!!
Establishment: AJNA BAR(formerly known as) BUDDHA BAR
Location: Meat Packing District
So 1month ago I submit my resume to a CL ad hoping to get a full time job, a couple of days later I get a call from a woman who was the HR Director for the formerly known BUDDHA BAR. A snooty dining room" BUDDHA BAR know now as AJNA BAR due to a serious Lawsuit that they lost to the BUDDHA BAR WORLDWIDE forcing them to change their name;
she wants me to meet with her …I agree to an interview a few days later..,she follows up a few days later with a call to let me know that they would like to schedule me for a 2 day trailing/training and we agree on the "salary", I show up one morning to complete all the paperwork at that point I let her know that I will be giving my notice to my other employer; at the end of he 2 day training she informs me face to face that she will be calling me back the next day to give me my schedule for the following week… 6 days go by and no phone call from the HR Director or any other Manager .., on the evening of the 6th day after I left 4-5 messages a Private Events Manager gets on the phone to explain to me that : "…we have not forgotten about you..,we understand that you have given notice to your other employer and you have no job now…,we have not forgotten about you"!
6 days later I called again and left another last message on her voice mail ( please bear in mind that by this time I was left hanging with no job to go back to… and NOBODY @ AJNA BAR had the decency to call me to talk to me and tell me either way what had happened.
I even turned down a temp job with a very well known Investment Banking power house due to my 2 days training and assuming AJNA BAR would call me back. I have but myself to blame for this - but I don’t want any oher hardworking professional who is seeking a job to go thru what I just experienced with this AJNA BAR PEOPLE DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE FOR A JOB OR APPLY FOR ONE BE VERY CAREFUL, HONESTY AND INTEGRITY ARE NOT THEIR MAIN BACKBONE!!!!!

WOW…!I heard about this place and their Hiring Managers…and their inability to keep new employees due to their lack of organization n professional demeanor..,That’s a SHAME what happened to you…very dissapointing to say the least.., they basically lead you to believe you had a job knowing full well you were giving your notice at other job ..then they ignored/dropped you -so no job at all. what kind of a miserable human could do such a thing…. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP..!!!
I’m sorry to hear that happened with you as well. They love waste people’s time. They did almost the same with me. Make me come for interview and I’ve been also told that they will be calling me to have an interview with the GM and afterwords they never called me, and when I called and I spoke with the GM he said that right now it was kinda slow so they wouldn’t be hiring at the moment. My time is just valuable as theirs. If they’re not hiring so why did they waste my time. I hope they close down this shit hole!
PS: talking with a friend of mine she told me that she has been in same situation…
OMG! I’m very sorry about this but let me share my story with u guys and maybe help others and persuade them to stay away from this place.
Few months ago I submit my resume to a CL add same as u hoping to get a full time job for the busy season and couple days later a named Michael calls me to set an interview fro the next day at 5:00 pm. I was there 5 minutes before the time and there he was he told me to wait in the lounge area i sat there and waited, 15 minutes went by and nothing i thought he was busy or in a meeting at 5:30 i see the maitre d is at her post and i was still waiting 5:45 and I see costumers making their way into the restaurant. So at 5:55 I approached the metro d and i asked her if there was any other manager available because i had an interview with this guy at 5:00 and i’ve been waiting and waiting she tells me ahh ahh nobody can see u right now because they r ….. and i said what in a meeting and she tells me no they r eating family. OMG i was so angry i just went back to the lounge area where my coat was i put it on and walked out of there she tells me oh wait do u want to give him a message and i stopped for a sec and said yes Could u pls tell this guy to go and F him self
If they have no consideration with a person on an interview a can imagine how bad they’ll treat their employees now i’m on a much better place
Buddha bar (or whatever its calling itself now) is, was and always will be a desperate to be hip shithole. It takes a quick google search to find dozens of disgruntled ex employees and horror stories told by its staff.
i discovered this when i sent them my resume a few years back…i showed up for my first interview to find an open call.dozens of people standing around filling out applications waiting to be herded into two minute long interviews. i walked out and never looked back.
didn’t stop them from calling me up like eight more times to schedule an interview with me (i.e. these people couldn’t even keep their interviews in order).
