if i could burn it down and not get caught i would
Establishment: claudios
Location: greenport (long island)
I worked for claudios restaurant for 5 seasons. Before i get into it i will say that when i started the money was phenomenal and by the end of my fifth season i didn\’t care how much i was making i knew i couldn\’t go back for another season, for the simple fact that my bosses were the most money hungry, degrading, slave driving assholes i had ever met. I understand that owning and running a restaurant is a tough job…especially with your head in your ass.
Let me break it down for those of you who are intreigued…
There are 5 owners in the claudios corp. and together they have 3 restaurants, a marina which has gas available for sale, a \"shirt-shack\" (which sells over priced tees and other bullshit) a gift shop and an ice cream shop all within the compound of their parking lot.. The longest same family owned restaurant in the united states and i think north america which they love to mention just to brag.
-Just because you have been in business for that long doesn\’t give you the right to be a fucking douche bag to your employees
These 5 people, 3 of which are brother and sisters and their 2 spouses… all HATE each other and make it extremely difficult to work for.
If anyone knows where and to whom i am referring to, you already know that they think they own the entire town of greenport and everyone in it. smug bastards.
*They charge for parking in the summer on the weekends and the employees are not to park in the lot under no circumstances unless you\’re a bartender (mainly because they\’re the last ones to leave). If you\’re caught with your car in the lot you WILL be yelled at and wont ever hear the end of it. Where are you supposed to park you ask? Any where you can. greenport is a small town with a lot of tourists naturally the streets fill up fast, so you find yourself driving aimlessly around back roads looking for somewhere to park. finally you get a spot and you realize you have to walk like 13 blocks to work…in the hot blazing sun and humidity. you walk into work and almost immediate you\’re in some sort of trouble because 1. you\’re late. 2. you\’re a hot sweaty mess and 3. because they have nothing better to do than to make someone else feel like shit.
*The food is not that great…mostly MICROWAVED. it is a seafood restaurant with very high prices and everything is a la carte. -crab cakes…heavily breaded with very little crab are microwaved.-soft shell crab which are frozen (most places are if not in season) are quickly flash fried and then microwaved and served.I have seen swordfish and fresh-tuna both microwaved and served.
NO BREAKS, NO SMOKING, NO SHIFT MEAL. If you want food…you have to pay for it. you want to go on a break? better hope you hurt yourself bad enough to go to the hospital…and grab a smoke on the way…
In every restaurant the staff becomes more of a family and everyone has each others back. i can honestly say without that waitstaff that restaurant would not go as smoothly as it does. There was no manager and there would be days that 2 of the bosses were fighting so much, someone would storm out in tears. Then there would be the game of good cop-bad cop…and then everyone suffers.
They were trying very hard to make their restaurant something it wasn\’t:fine dining.
their food and their politics are bullshit.
I was penalized for having another job while employed there. I had no other choice but to have another job. if the scheduling boss has any peeve with you for that week your schedule will be ver shitty. Im a girl in my 20\’s just trying to live and make ends meat. Not trying to get anything over on anyone.
They are verbally abusive to their staff and anyone who disagrees with them about anything. In my 5 years there i was called over-weight, not one of the prettiest girls here, not very bright, yelled at for no reason at all…my hair was ugly..i dont wear enough make up and i didn\’t go to college…the list goes on and on.
Once i was wildly accused of trying to give things away to strangers…(because i used a different method to make a salad…(which turned out to look nicer and was less wasteful).
*those of you who work in a restaurant want to build your guest check high to get a better tip: the higher the bill the higher your tip. tell me why i would even attempt to deprive myself of more money? Not everyone wipes their asses with hundreds.
Ive seen customers yelled at and told to \"shut up\" and that they were wrong when clearly they werent. Customers thrown out for being a democrat. I once even saw a table of ten thrown out because a woman didnt like her blueberry martini. The owner went to the table after seeing the drink sent back (with the drink in his hand) and ask what the problem was, when the woman explained why she didnt like her drink; the owner then took a sip and said \"tastes fine to me?! Where are you from?\" when she replied \"michigan\" he then said \"well go the fuck back to michigan and get out. my bartender knows how to make drinks!!!\" Just loud enough for surrounding customers to hear.
imagine subjecting yourself to bitterness like that on a regular basis.
Those of you who enjoy eating out…dont ever go there. there are no deals, no good specials and they will take you for everything youve got if youre willing to pay for what you think is good fresh seafood.
Those of you looking to wait tables on the north-fork…dont waste youre time even filling out an application because once and if you are hiered you will soon regret it.
I have realized that not going back has been a blessing and i have been far less stressed. I enjoy my current job where i am not constantly judged and not told that i am not doing my job the right way or how i should speak to people. I am very professional and love to chat on a semi-personal level with tables. I am a talker and i can bullshit with the best. I know I do a good job and i give 100% with every work task possible
Claudios can kiss my ass and i hope that something bad happens to their establishment. Karma is a bitch and i hope they get what is coming to them…its been long overdue
