I have been at Crumbs for a while now before being transfered to the Lexington avenue. I used to love working there. We were treated as family and we (the employees) looked out for each other. Recently they fired sooo many people. People who made sooo much money for them. Managers that everybody loved and that made work fun and exciting.
Now Crumbs Bakeshop is hostile and cold. The district manager for the East Side is named Barbara Levine or Levin. She is fake and mean and cruel. She will smile to your face and laugh but behind your back meanwhile, she is badmouthing you and calling you names. She calls people names in their faces. I have heard her call employees and managers dumb, stupid, idiots, worthless, lazy. One time she smacked my manager in the face and after 5 minutes she apologizes to him. Who does this. They are trying to get rid of people who have been there more than a year. Soooo many changes are coming.
Managers cannot do their own things at the stores. Even with scheduling, once the schedule is up it has to be approved by corporate and god forbid you ask for 2 days off. Instead of working 3 day you end up working for 1 day. How can I survive with one day of work? Oh and we can\’t change a thing. We have homemade lemonade we had to ask permission if we could make it with water as the paper with the instructions to make lemonade said make it with seltzer water.
I was having \"register\" issue the past 2 months. When I never once that I have been there have had any issues with it. I was accused of destroying many items when it really was the general managers doing. I bet the manager was stealing from the registers as well. I already have 2 write ups. 1 is cause I ruined some cupcakes and cookies. 2. Cause I\’m \"always\" late.
They made an employee a manager after threatening to fire her. The reason she is a manager is because they are in desperate need of people. They do not like her nor trust her. People are quitting on them left and right. In my store we have up to like 10 people on staff. They fired on girl who worked hard and 2 people quit. That leaves them with 7 or 6 employees including managers. More people are quitting on them.
Our manager Jackie Corderos is a butt kisser. Every time Barbara comes in she hangs on her ass. She tells everybody\’s business to everyone and everything with her \"is let me ask Barbara, let me ask Barbara.\" Making her seem like a clone. Do not trust her. She will say she loves you and cares for you but she really doesn\’t. I\’m forced to work with her. I do not like her nor trust her. All she does is remain in the back with an employee. She says she needs someone to do her work as she is busy on the computer. All she does is read emails. How hard is that? She has her daughter working there now and she allows her to do as she wishes. I was even bumped off my schedule so Michelle can have the morning shift and the hours she wants.
I loved Crumbs but not anymore. I am waiting to get the hell out of there.

I agree with the people who posted above me. They 4got to mention when it’s winter we NEVER EVER have any heat. Instead of fixing the radiator they bring us portable heaters that heat no one. When its 20 degrees outside, its 35 degrees inside. IT’S HORRIBLE.
In the summer time we NEVER EVER have air conditioners. Once again we get portable fans that do nothing. When its 98 degrees outside, its 95 inside the stores.
Our store was lucky last year. I remember when it was 100 degrees outside our store was 85 degrees inside. Some stores air conditioner broke down in the middle of the heat wave. Even customers complain about the heat and the coldness felt inside of the stores.
Many of us are unhappy at my store too. 4 people have quit already. I feel I am next. It’s a horrible place to work at. Too much hassle for something that will go straight to your thighs.
Crumbs has fallen. we are loosing money and not making as much as we use to we barely have any staff and its so much pessure i am working 60 hour weeks. i am tired and barbara never lets up. she cares more about herself her image her reputtion and of course the money. and ontop of that WE WILL OPEN EVEN MORE STORES IN NYC. like this is fucked up. the money isnt even that good. no raises and no benefits. if u get hurt it takes a long time to be cleared so insurace can pay for youre injuries. this is rediculous. barbara is still firing people. like if you do not have people to cover u then dont fir them at all. even what we eat and drink is being controled. no more freebies. 93rd street crumbs does suck. east side crumbs RULEZ!!!!!!!!!!!
This company is really aweful! They treat their employees like they are worth nothing. None of the employees have gotten a raise in over 3 years. You can’t call out when your sick, and you sTill have 2 find your own cover even when you have a doctor’s note. god forbid youre sick. u still have to come in. The bigger bosses show no respect, not even to the managers. They treat you like crap. they are oepning a new store in the west side.
I am a loyal customer and was wondering why my fav people are no longer there (midtown) they used to be a happy team. I noticed that the food quality went south a few months ago. I don’t go as often as I used to, now after reading this I won’t go at all! Babs Levine (there is one in every industry) and her kind are better off on permanent vacation or dead. Why the higher up fail to see how ineffective and vile they are is beyond me.

After working at crumbs for a year, I am so over this hellhole. Corporate says they “care” and stress the “family” aspect of this store, but all they care about is the money filling their upper eastside pockets. Newsflash: stop treating your employees like shit–the quality of your stores is going to hell because all your good workers are resentful. the higher ups here are selfish pricks, please don’t shop here.

Yes Michelle is the new ASM and she gets special treatment cause of their relationship. Barbie as we call her is ruthless and heartless i understand we ALL need to make money, but how can you make it by throwing the little people under the bus. not right. the ones who make you money.
the cupcakes are all stale they are not fresh as they like to tell their customers. they are kept in the frigde overnight. we are forced to tell customers that the cupcakes/pastried at the end of the day are given to city harvest…BULLSHIT…. we keep them for 3 days before we throw them away. which explains why they taste like buttcrack!!!!
does anybody know if jackie is still a manager on 92nd street? or if she is still at the company? tips at crumbs sucks anywhoo. they treat their employees bad and lie to their customers but which company dont?

Barbara is no longer a district manager to the new york stores. To many complaints if you ask me she is still a manager but to all of the LI store now. Now they have bull shit people running stores that they cant even manage them self

back to the frozen tundra…. god, sometimes i wish i was a cupcake so i can be baked at 375. unfortunately, i am an icicle frozen solid in the freezer that is crumbs bake shop, being watched over by the ice queen. her heart and her soul, black, like the only color option we’re allowed to wear. come with me as i steam this large cup of half and half peppermint hot chocolate. mr. happy wants to know why i am so friendly, and why i say hello to him everyday. then theres the “browsers” who think the proper response to “hello how are you?” is “uhmmm IM JUST LOOKING”. luck is on your side if you LOVE plastic and hate the environment, just like our customers. the key to happiness is the lemon classic cupcake. if you would love to work for an ice queen who only looks out for themself and doesnt care for their employees at all, then you’d love crumbs!
I agree with the person above. i work for crumbs as well and its a shithole.
i was fired 3 times from that company. the reason i was hired was because i am friends someone at corporate. i know my time here is limited and literalie i come to work epecting it to be my last day. i never now.
it use to be cool working there but not anymore. im glad someone finally posted about crumbs. and this doesnt happen on the lexington store. it is hppening at every crumbs store. i work in midtown. i reccommend no one to work there. it sucks balls big time.
