using “trainees” for free labor

Dear industry professionals,
Do not waste your time at this establishment. I applied for a hosting position and they are inconsiderate of people’s time and very unprofessional. i did not have a person training me and had to do everything from coat check, answering phones, seating, and i also did things that were not a hostess’s responsibility. The best part is that i stayed until almost midnight. after my first “Training” day i called consistently. Finally, they said they have other people training. Do not waste your time with this dirty/cheating place.
i “trained” here two years ago and had the same experience. also, the bald maitre d at the time was super lecherous and sketchy. way touchy feely, old, and gross. this is right when they opened and they made us wear heels for 8 hour shifts. my feet were killing me. i was eventually hired but i’m pretty sure they set me up to let me go. the bartender, who never made ANY mistakes, poured two extra glasses of wine. she said, “oops, i made extra. do you want these?” i don’t drink but i took them back to the staff room in case anyone wanted them. (probs not my best idea.) two seconds later the manager came in and told me that drinking on the job wouldn’t be tolerated and that i was fired. I DON’T EVEN DRINK!
