Don’t work for these people
Establishment: Chez Joly/Capers Cafe
Location: Pearl/PDX Airport
Typical owners who work you to death, take complete advantage of you, don’t care about their employees at all, and will try to get rid of you at the mere suggestion that they fulfill their promise of better compensation for work done. The won’t pay their employees what they are worth, yet, they buy funny french cars, and spend an insane amount of money on the interior design of their house so it can be in a magazine.
Don’t waste your money at Chez Joly, just read Richard Porters review in The Oregonian and you’ll understand. (Please read it, it’s funny, and he doesn’t think too much of the food, and rightly so.) Unfortunately, the Joly’s don’t understand you can’t make fine French cuisine with Sysco ingredients, and old food from your other stores (which is trucked in daily from the Airport catering store)
These people wont stop at the lines of the law, either. They actually tallied up the tip money I made over the span of 3 months, and wanted me to give it back, which is illegal. When I called them on that, I was fired the next day.
Its a whole family of them, just don’t bother, they are shady. The own both The Chez and Caper’s Cafe.

I did a gig for Capers {Airport Way} and they did me wrong, as they have a history of extending to most everyone. This all will catch up with them in time….
you read the Oregonian and take that garbage seriously? I bet you are afraid of the H1N1 vaccine too…
The Joly’s are revolting human beings. They hire people with disabilities in order to get tax breaks and overwork them and scream at them constantly. They take food OUT OF THE GARBAGE CAN and make the kitchen use it for the meals.
My small amount of time I worked for them at the airport was horrible. They used the economy as an excuse to slash their employees wages. Also, they don’t feed their people. Most places will give their employees at least 50% off sandwiches and smaller items. These Jackasses gives you 10%. Whoopee! A whole 10% off the cheapest, lowest quality Sysco food imaginable. Great way too scam and make money off your own employees. That never sat well with me…just saying.
