Liquor License trouble!!

Establishment: The Nines

Location: Portland

Noticed on OLCC’s site today that the Nines has had to pay some pretty steep fines the last few months for having employees with no service permits! Who’s keeping watch around that place these days anyways? The city might not be getting their money back, but the state managed to collect nearly 5K in fines.  Go Kulongoski!

So not only can Sage not run a hotel properly (take a peek at tripadvisor), but they can’t be bothered to handle the basic HR function of documenting or enforcing proper paperwork. While I’m no fan of the OLCC, it is really not very difficult to photocopy a permit or make someone fill out a very brief form.

I guess they’re too busy giving interviews pretending that everything’s great or crying poverty to the PDC.

Unless, the nines got audited again, i’m pretty sure those fines are part of the woolford legacy. He got fined twice for not having a permit, so the rumour has it anyway. They have been pretty tight on us in the last few months about having our cards on us. I’ve been asked half a dozen times already to present my papers. By the way if anyone is interested f&b is way down, while the hotel is still really busy.

Hey effin, is that what finally got woolford canned? Or was it something else? Does anyone really know? Would love to hear what the word is..

Of course we’re interested! BTW, hilariously, there are lots of posts (along with snitty responses) about how awesomely awesome Urban Farmer is raking in the buckeroos these days on portlandfoodanddrink.com

Since the hotel is busy, when are they gonna start paying back the PDC?

I’m not too sure what the reason why Woolford got the axe, grandmasterflash. I’m hardly in the inner circle of gossip, but I think the olcc thing was part of it, but the highest up response i got to the question was that he acted really busy, but accomplished very little. Coincidentally though, they just anounced his replacement a few days ago. In other news the banquet manager got the axe today, not sure why or if its related to the new f&b director.

Oh and since i’m at it i will express my regret that no one has bothered to trash the exec chef on this site. I dont know what happened to this guy in high school, but dude its time to let it go. Your inferiority complex has gotten you all the way to this position, but now we are all adults. Lets treat each other as such, shall we? Yeah we are all really impressed that you made it this far so young, but we’d also like to see if you can carry your own weight while still clutching your clipboard.

One more thing I would like to mention since it is the most ridiculous thing i have ever seen. It is the pinnacle, the very peak of corporate idiocracy. We actually have a first-aid kit log. So everytime you hurt yourself, you have to document the fact that you put a band-aid on your poor little finger. Don’t hurt your writing hand! I don’t want to record the moment as if it was some kind of painful scrapbook, I just want Jim Henning and his Magic Moustache to kiss it and make it feel better. If this keeps up i’m going to have to have a death certificate signed everytime sage kills one of my dreams or at least a little part of me.

Does anyone have any info on the original or hell even departure for that matter? Its just curious that urban farmer created such a shitstorm and the other restaurants are totally silent.

I can’t believe that I almost left Denver to work for this company, thank god I decided to open my own restaurant instead of working with sage resaurant group. They turned me down for the executive chef position for Urban farmer but told me they would like to hire me for the chef de cuisine for departure when it opens. They also said that they will have the Exeuctive chef call me so I decided to work for myself instead, from hearing what’s going on there, That was the best decision that I ever made

and my resaurant has been open for over a year now and is doing very well. check out my website http://www.restaurant1521.com

Saw recently on OLCC’s website that Sage’s other property, The Original, got popped for two employees not having a permit. How does that happen after you already get busted at another property? Is it arrogance? Is it lack of organization? I would love to know…

I’d go with arrogance—-they seem to position themselves that way across the board. I notice things are kinda slow at The Original, as well…

You guys are idiots, get over it all ready. Sorry you got canned, its your own fault, move on with your life.
