Someone We Haven’t Trashed in Awhile….

Establishment: The Governor, The Avalon and Aquariva

Location: Portland

It’s been awhile since we trashed the "world class luxury" on a teeny shoestring Grand Heritage Group…is there any gossip, are they still losing $$$ with their too small hotels and crappy restaurant?

A visit to their site DID reveal that they’re "still developing" international properties for their wacky vacation club (in other words, nothing’s happened in 2 years). They’re also "developing" a rewards program. Dude, figure out a few perks, have your guests fill out cards and be done with it!

And is it just me, or does thier "portfolio" look like it’s lost a few properties (again)? But with Sage being so trashable, it’s small wonder we’ve ignored them for awhile…

Well, we all seem to know that the Aquariva has gone to pot the last eight months. Intelligent good start and well-intetioned. Alas, it’s a shell of what it once was. Got much too political.

Looks like I was anticipating something! They appear to have done (again) a house cleaning at Aquariva—yesterday there was an ad on craigslist for a manager, today they’re looking for servers, hosts, etc…

Looks as if they’re shaking things up again down at Aquariva. This week’s craigslist is riddled with BOH/FOH opening advertisements.

Well George the manager was fired so we will see what else happens!

Looks like they are cleaning house with the crew and want out with the old and in with the new. Too bad they don’t see the real reason for low morale and make the appropriate decision. We all know who needs to be booted to the curb, but they get rid of everyone but the cause of the problem.

….this place has that kind of history.

aumporn, you beat me to it! Yes, Grand Heritage in general and The Avalon/Aquariva in particular have a LOT of turnover.

new hotel general manager taking on too much, now the restaurant too!!!we will see how long this lasts.

I’m sure he’ll burn out, especially since Grand Heritage is known for doing that to people AND having unrealistic $$$ goals for their properties. BUT, I suspect corporate decided to have one GM over the hotel and the restaurant and overall it does make sense.

Neither one of those properties are particularly large, make much money or are known for their impressive service. You might as well have just one person hold the line and save a few bucks, especially in this crappy economy.
