Poster's Story

Title:   bottino's fresh fish
Name Of Establishment:   bottino
Location:   10th ave and 24th street
Story:   I worked at Bottino and finally left, not because the owners
routinely charged 20% "service charges" for large parties and
only gave the staff about half when lucky (once Danny Emmerman
when confronted explained,"Well we have to pay for the
decorations.") Nor did I leave because they make the illegal
workers pay twenty dollars a shift back to the house, or that we
as waiters had to tip out the Manager 7 (to our ten) points. I
left because I was so disturbed by watching the dish washer dump
emty beverages directly onto the fish he would clean every day
during lunch. The sink was full of refuse and seafood all mixed
together everyday and that to them is normal. If you could
imagine the prep-kitchen with it's pork-loins covered in flies
and the Chinese guys who would pee into a drain on the floor and
then go back to food prep without washing hands you get a pretty
clear picture. Leftover veggies from takeout store double as your
dinner side and food hits the floor "on the line" and back into
the pan no questions asked. Don't beleive me? Fine by me. Go and
enjoy, but this is the truth...My dignity made me leave.
