Poster's Story

Title:   Like nothing you have EVER seen!
Name Of Establishment:   The Tapas Lounge
Location:   1st Ave b/w 58th and 59th
Story:   I have NEVER worked in such a horrendous restaurant before in
my life. To give an overall evaluation they are complete and
total foreign assholes! They treat their employees like
yesterdays trash, tax your tips (yup that’s right) and let a cat
parooze throughout the restaurant at its leisure. They start you
out at 25%, which means you only get 1/4 of what you earn. They
tell you that you will get up to 100% within a few weeks. I was
there for a month and was at an astonishing 50%. I had just as
many tables as the rest of the servers, but earned half as much…
you tell me how that makes any sense. They quiz you daily on
anything and everything…sauces, entrees, appetizers, wines, your
phone number, how many times you think the owner blew coke before
he came and how you really think his fiancé moved up in the chain
of command.. hmmm I wonder BJ anyone! The management is full of
losers! Alberto is a complete jackoff and has absolutely no
social skills. The owner wont acknowledge your presence because
he thinks he is a Columbian drug lord and looks like he is
straight out of the movie Blow. Need another reason NOT to work
at this place? WORST PLACE EVER!!!,

Story:   let's not forget, after everything else ive mentioned in other
posts, about their mandatory tuesday afternoon meetings (waste of
a trip to the city) that you have to attend without pay. They
also hold you responsible if anyone walks out on a check, or if
there is the slightest mistake. in all fairness though..that
place in general just wasnt for me. Someone in another thread
about Casa mentioned that if you aren't into upselling and have a
knack for a certain kind of service, then a certain person who
complained about it should shut their mouths. Well, this person
is right...I've never been much of a salesperson, so I just
couldn't get comfortable with it. STill, there are things this
company are doing that are illegal and inhumane. They put
employees "on call" to work on days that have been specified as
"not available to work". They just have bad manners and an
overall bad employer/employee relationship ethic.
