Poster's Story

Title:   Ever worked at or heard anything about..
Name Of Establishment:   Heartland Brewery
Location:   Manhattan
Story:   A friend of mine has just been offered a job here. I read
something about some legal action being considered against them
but that was many moons ago. He said they seemed like they had
the right fit for him but a lot of the managers seemed new. Any
thoughts?
Response
Story:   I worked here for one day. Seemed like most corporate
restaurants. The waitress training me told me that some of the
managers are just mean and moody and if one is in a bad mood, he
will fire someone on the spot for something miniscule like the
sides of your tablecloths not being even. Preshift, we were
sitting in one room while some people had something to eat, there
was a clear window on one wall and a manager walked by and very
sternly motioned to another waiter by rubbing his beard signaling
he needed to shave. Instead of walking into the room and telling
him remotely civily, he really rudely played this charade game
with a very snide, condescending expression and then just walked
away. Yeah, some of the managers had that neonazi corporate
manager demeanor and way about them. The waitress training me
had a 10 table station during lunch which turned something like
twice. The tip out was like 1/3 to 40% of your tips (or it could
have been based on sales, I can't remember exactly it was a while
ago) but she walked with $62 working 10 to 3:30. Not sure of
the location your friend is working at, but it seemed like a lot
of tourist families with kids which is a big yuck to me
personally. Another waiter told me when I was leaving that he
kinda liked it and you can make 800 to 900 a week for the most
part depending on your schedule. That was the one in Times
Square.
