The owner runs a classified ad for servers every couple months, and unless you have a big rack or blond hair, he wont hire you.. and if you are a guy, forget it, he may interview you, but you will definitely not get hired, he only wants girls as servers…He fires servers for no reason except he wants someone younger and cuter….the place is a dump, and the health dept. makes surprise inspections all the time… they even lost their "A" rating at least twice…u can make decent money but you work your butt off because he only wants the minimum staff working, so he doesnt have to pay more people..he is the cheapest man alive, even though he is rich…the cooks make min wage so we have to tip them by giving money to the owner, who then puts it on there paycheck, so they never actually get any of the cash we are tipping them..
this place is a bad scene, dont work here…

I actually considered working at the Kansas City one and just drove by it the other day and seen how busy it was. I never got a real great feeling about it, glad I didn’t go. Good restaurant jobs are soooo hard to come by…
It’s funny you say that, cuz when I lived in San Diego I used to ALWAYS see an ad in the Help Wanted section for the Kansas City BBQ!
I figured that it had to have something wrong with it if he was always looking for new help. Now I know why!
that how this place in portland is too. its called big daddy’s bbq and big daddy is an ass whole sexist bastard. the turnover rate in unbelievable because he doesnt want to hire enough people to work. there is no overtime paid. no bussers, only pretty girls working, and most of them are incompetent because they were hired based on looks not skills. the guys in the kitchen are worked to death and put on salary. the tip out for “the kitchen” is nowhere to be seen, so its assumed that it goes into the owners pocket. it really sucks though because it will probably never go under because it has a great rep as far as food goes and lots of return customers.
i think its just a bbq place thing…
