Owner’s are Certifiably Insane

I worked for this restaurant many years ago. The owner, Paddy and Laurel, are completely insane. They treat their staff like children. I’ve never seen owners treat their staff so poorly (in any profession) and they have a very high turn over rate among their staff. Those that stay for any length of time are usually alcoholics, drug addicts, sexual deviants, and/or compulsive gamblers. Only those who were as messed up as the owners stayed. I saw many fine, professional servers come and go, usually within a matter of weeks. Paddy requires that servers and bussers be available for several "on call" shifts a week, sometimes being on call for both lunch and dinner. She also gets the schedule done late Sunday night and forces the staff to call in to see if they are working on Monday lunch. I called in once and was told by a secretary that I didn’t work. Turns out that I did and I was fired for it. I was re-hired the next day but this is how staff problems are handled; yelling, demeaning and firing. You could usually grovel and throw away your pride to get your job back but the cycle would begin again. The food isn’t great and the prices are way too high for what you get.
