Any one wants to share ??

Establishment: DANTES

Location: pier 39

Dantes on Pier 39 imposed what they termed as ‘S F charge’ for every entree ordered. The clever ’sf’ charge was a mandatory addition we, as servers were required to add to each check-or else no job-. If we were asked what it was for, we could hand guests a laminated card that read "Due to the unfair increase in minimum wages to restaurant workers in San Francisco, we as a competitive business must balance our losses by adding a dollar to each entree purchased". Forget about a tip, with tourists, it was like saying, "I AM OVERPAID ALREADY". Is this even legal? They were screwing their customers and definitely breaking the law. Posted price at a restaurant is just that. This was just rook the tourists scam.
Giving you the handout to give the customers was just a way to intimidate you into going along with their scam.
This kind of thing is best taken to the IRS and State Tax authorities. I understand there are rewards for collected taxes.

this is not o.k. A restaurants costs are built into their food and beverage prices. This includes hourly wage for employees, at the most basic level. To place upon their customers the responsiblity of the increased cost of employement, due to minimum wage increase, is criminal. To make this obvious to the customer when the bill is dropped is simply wrong. We are hard working employees, that agree to work for nothing more than minimum wage plus tips. We hope the tips will be enough to meet our basic needs. If a county, or city, feels that a higher rate for minimum wage is nessesary - then it is. I have waited tables in s.f. in the late 1990’s, in louisiana, in the napa valley in the 2000’s until present. The minimum wage plus tips I have recieved is adjusted for the cost of living, it always seems just right, whether it’s 2.50 and hour or 8.00 an hour.
