The worst place I have ever bartended
Establishment: Crossing the bar
Location: 33 The Embarcadero
I get interviewed by a Management team consisting of indian managers who are all related. They ask me how would I stop other bartenders from stealing. I’m like, ‘Whuh?’.thinking why you aren’t asking me the other basic questions like what’s your bartending style, what’s your specialty, etc. Okay, fine, I answer. Interviews a breeze but I found out the managers don’t even know how to do liqour inventory or even they’re own POS system. f#*k it.. I’m psyched, first bartending gig in the city.
I come first night. OMFG, what a mess. The managers are clueless, don’t give a shit other than you don’t steal and serve the shortest pour ever seen to all the customers. They’re aren’t even basic ingredients like sweet and sour or triple sec. The bar manager is some gal whose lasted longest at four months because all of the other professional bartenders quit after seeing what a joke it is.
The gal managers, two of em, sat at each end of the bar watching me. That’ sall they did. Watch me. Apparently, this was usual as a precaution you don’t steal. They won’t lift a finger to help but just sit there, not even smile, and watch you.
The GM walks around, points fingers and snaps. Didn’t even acknowledge me. Just walks around and even gave lip to some customer cuz he bumped him.
The kitchen and the trash area was disgusting. Trash piled a mile high and what you did was just throw your bags onto the pile.
My fellow bartenders and I each made a total of 40 bucks at the end of the night. I never showed up the next night I was scheduled and the funny part is they didnt’ even call me at all. LOL.

OMG… that place was my first bartending gig in SF also about four years ago. and you nailed it down to a T. I unfortunately work there for three months….but i couln’t take it anymore. they treat their employees like shit… i can’t believe they are still in business they way they run that place.
