I remmeber when they first opened .

Establishment: Mcormick and Schmicks

Location: Bellevue

I was there at the opening of the new Bellevue M&S. They had some motivational guy come in for the training, and he had a huge ego and acted like we were all ten.

The chef forgot my interview twice, then they lost my paperwork, as in a copy of my DL and SS card plus other personal info.

This guy John paul told everyone that they were literally handing over the keys to a Ferrari. I thought the place was nice, but would compare it to a two or three year old jag at most. If you want to see a Ferrari, go to Huber Kellers place in SF.

Anyways, the opening was a huge mongolian clusterphuque. The corporate head chef basically got in everybody’s way, and gruffly barked orders and generally acted like an as#%*e. People were flying in and out the doors, eager to get in and work, then more eager to get the hell out and be done with the place.

It soon became apparent that the people handing us the keys to this so called "Ferrari" were only qualified to operate a Ford Escort even though the menu consists of glorified bar food. I got out fast.

These people are shady. The GM, A short little Italian guy from Brooklyn is a coke head and is married, while his fat wife is at home tending to his equally fat children, he is out taking money from the tips and skimming off the top, to rent a call girl that is also equally fat and ugly too so they can eat at LA Vita E Belle with all his Itailian friends and leave a shitty tip for the server while he acts like a mob gangster out of scarface. Run don’t walk away!!!! I have seen this first hand !!!!!

I worked there for about a month. I am young and in good shape but that place killed me. Working doubles every-day with a 10 min break if your lucky, their book and all the tests. ITS NOT WORTH IT!!! Mad

if you are a bully or a suck up, you can have a very secure career with M&S. IF you think for yourself, have a decent personality, or are otherwise normal, you won’t last.”
I think that this statement rings true with most corporate restaurants not just M&S. I have only worked with more mainstream places and deal with the same crap at all of them. But the money is good, so you do you what you have to to get by. Its all about picking your battles and staying under the radar.
