Susan’s 5100
Establishment: Susan’s 5100
Location: Seattle
Was asked to come in for an interview for head chef’s position, and set up an interview for the following evening. We (Susan and I) discussed the menu and the direction she wanted to go with it, talked about the percentages she’d like to hit, etc.
The next evening, I show up for the interview. She’s not there. I browse the menu, overhear the server at the next table informing the guests that they don’t have this item, or that one, or that one, either. Finally the guest asks what they do have. A half hour later, the waitstaff called her and she finally showed up. We start talking, and I realize that she’s not interviewing me for the head chef’s spot, but for the lead barista, with maybe some floor shifts. She had forgotten the interview, and forgotten that she’d asked me in for the chef’s spot. Apparently she hired a friend of hers for the chef’s position, but still offered me the barista gig, although she thought I might be overqualified. Ahem. I do hope that they pull it togethere over there. Could be a very nice spot, but I was glad to have dodged that bullet.
